It was Memorial Day weekend and for 3 solid days volunteers collected much needed supplies for Joplin. The support from the community of Belleville IL was great given that the event wasn't publicized on a grand scale and it was put on with short notice. The group consisted of representatives of Trucker Charity Inc, Con-Way Freight, Menlo Worldwide, a local youth team and a couple of truck drivers who heard of the drive on Dave Nemo's show.
The group collected everything from water to wheelchairs, much needed first aid supplies were being pushed by the group. The supplies are being delivered to Forrest Park Baptist Church and the Salvation Army in Joplin Mo for distribution. The church has set up a tent city and very grateful for the supplies that were delivered. Bob Hataway President of Transalive will be helping with the distribution in Joplin. Thank you for your great service to our country and industry Mr. Hataway.
Stock Transport out of Lebanon Il delivered a load of supplies last week to the Salvation Army in Joplin.
Pat and Kathy hill donated a 48ft refer van to Trucker Charity Inc to help with the relief efforts and for the charity's future activities. Stock Transport out of Lebanon Il picked up the trailer for TCi and delivered it to the Belleville Walmart. This trailer will be delivered later this week.
One of the highlights was a 9 year old girl who had a $40 Walmart gift card who went into the store, cashed it in and donated half of it to the relief drive. She didn't stop there, she went home and gathered some slightly used clothes, toys and books and brought them back with her brother. This is what it's all about everyone. People helping people and to see that this little girl has already realized that is very heart warming.Again thanks to all the citizens in the Belleville area who donated last weekend. We're sure Joplin will appreciate your kindness and special notes written on packages.
The people of Joplin were very appreciative of our efforts as shown in the last part of the photos photos below.
