Trucker Charity’s booth was a buzz all three days of the Mid America Truck show as they handed out 8,000 Constitutions along with information about the charity to the attendees of the show. This shocked some and intrigued others causing them to stop in their tracks. Donations were collected to help drivers that find themselves in bad situations beyond their control. Terry Wooley of One Bar records was in attendance autographing his CD collections that were purchased at the booth. Terry produced a special Trucker Charity CD just for the occasion. Proceeds from the sale of the CD’s went to Trucker Charity as well.
This year at MATS we shared our booth with Operation Roger, an organization who parallels Trucker Charity’s activities in the world of animals. Their operation provides transportation for the pets of truck drivers who find themselves in certain situations on the road by transporting their pets home.
Trucker Charity was invited as a corporate member to attend the Women in Trucking 2nd annual Salute to Women in Trucking. 1 board member and 2 volunteers attended the salute. National Transportation Safety Board Chairman, Deborah A. P. Hersman, addressed the audience and thanked them for their professionalism and passion for safety. Trucker Charity was honored to attend.
Daily after the show Trucker Charity hosted friends and supporters of the charity at Papa John’s parking lot providing good food and brotherhood for all who attended. Saturday they held an auction which brought in a huge crowd. Ben Pernell donated his favorite Western style black leather jacket for the auction.
This was a very successful year at MATS which will provide some of the funding needed for the charity’s main goal of “Getting them safe, getting them fed, and getting them home.” Trucker Charity wants to give a huge thanks to all who attended and donated to the cause. Together we can make a difference. Trucker Charity Inc. would also like to give a huge thanks to those companies who donated items for the annual auction without their support our mission would be very difficult to complete.
